Calm Sea
  • Imran Tabet

Taste your fire my friend.

An island is burning. All trees are burning. The fire spreads. Through the island it goes. The fire reaches the edges of the island. It reaches the shore. It can no longer spread. The fire burns the island to the ground. All life is decimated. All trees are now ash.

Fire is our pain. The island our sense of self. The ocean our soul. When a fire is ignited on your island, don't fight it. The fire will spread. Any attempt to fight it is in vain. It will only make your suffering more profound. Let it spread. It will challenge your tolerance for pain and your understanding of who you really are.

Let your fire spread far enough and your pain will bring you to the threshold of your soul. Your sense of self will burn with your pain. That is the only part of you that is actually burning. Your sense of self is the only part of you that knows pain. Once the pain has engulfed your sense of self, nothing stands in the way. The pain will take you to your soul. The one ocean contained within every being. All of us are our own island yet we share the same ocean.

Taste your fire my friend, let it burn you alive. You shall die and be reborn in your true Self.
